Brace yourselves, it’s that time of year when the temperatures drop into the low low low digits. It’s a cold morning here in Auckland and I am oh so thankful for warm fluffy blanket I got on my birthday! Thanks kids!!
Blankets and throws are one of my favorite interior pieces. Not only are they a necessity to keep warm, but they can be considered an accessory too. Blankets and throws are the absolute perfect way to channel your personality and love for pattern and color.
From tribal blankets to a handmade cozy replica of your neighborhood, there truly is a blanket for everyone.
So how do you pick the best blanket
Be selective about fabrics: When it comes to material, my favourite for the winter months are faux fur and anything chunky. Not only does it add warmth, but the look gives the space nice texture. I am not a fan of pure wool as I find it itchy, and it pills easily.
Go bold with colors and patterns: This is where you can really have fun. There are really no rules. Adding a blanket with a fun design or bold hue can give new life to your space. If you have a room that has zero splash of color, a single throw blanket can transform a room.
Pick a size based on where it’ll go: If you’re buying one for the sofa, make sure the size is something around 50” x 70.” It’s small enough to move around, but large enough to cover yourself and snuggle. If the blanket is for the bedroom, go with a bigger size. It makes a bed look more finished and fills it out nicely.
